Your smartphone is your multi-tool, secret weapon, sonic screwdriver, utility belt, tri-corder, time cruncher, life saver, all wrapped up in one device. You might even run your entire business on your phone, or at the very least you use it to communicate with your staff and check emails late at night. Well, good news – the Setmore mobile app was designed specifically for you.

The app is free to use, syncs automatically with your Setmore account, and offers nearly all the features as the full browser-based version. You can schedule appointments, add staff and services, share your online booking page, enable notifications, and more. For the purposes of this guide, we’ll go over the basics to get you started, and a quick helpful hint about enabling push notifications.

Navigation

  • Use the “hamburger” icon (three horizontal bars) in the top-left to access the main menu.
  • Use the plus sign icon (+) in the top-right to add new appointments, staff, or services.

Scheduling an appointment

  1. Navigate to Schedule in the main menu (hamburger icon) and, under the date where you want the appointment to appear, tap + Add Appointment.
  2. Select the service, staff member, available time slot, and customer.
  3. On the final screen, if everything checks out, tap Book in the top right.

Enable or disable push notifications

Push notifications are those messages that appear on your lock screen when you’re not using your phone. They’re incredibly useful for checking your Setmore updates at-a-glance, especially for new or canceled appointments.

  1. Navigate to Settings in the main menu (hamburger icon).
  2. Scroll down and tap Notifications.
  3. Select which notifications you want to receive. A checkmark means the notification is activated, no checkmark means it’s not activated. Tap Save to save your changes.

  1. Navigate to Support in the main menu (hamburger icon).
  2. Type in your question to start a chat.

There’s a lot you can do with Setmore for mobile

Even if you don’t plan to use the mobile app often, it may still be a good idea to download it simply for the push notifications. That way, your phone will ping you whenever a new customer signs up for your services, or you have a last-minute cancelation. Now that you’ve got the basics down, feel free to explore the app on your own.


Taking payments through Setmore *Premium Feature*

One of our goals with Setmore is to make it the only software you’ll need to run your business. To this end, the cash register system supports taking payments through Stripe, and we’re looking at expanding support to other services as well (don’t worry, Square is on the list). To use this integration, you’ll need an active Stripe account in good standing.

To get started, navigate to Settings > Payments > Configure.

  1. Click the Stripe card, then click the “Activate Stripe” button.
  2. A login window for Stripe will appear. Enter your Stripe username and password to continue.
  3. You’ll be prompted to authorize access of your account through Setmore. Click Authorize to continue.

Taking payments from the calendar

Navigate to Calendar.

  1. Click on the appointment for which you want to process a payment, then click “Edit Appointment >”
  2. A pop-up window will appear with the appointment details. Click the “Pay Now” button.
  3. Enter the customer’s payment information and click Charge Customer when finished.

To process a payment from the calendar, click an appointment, click "Edit Details," then click "Pay Now."

Taking payments through the booking page

Navigate to Settings > Payments > Booking Page.

  1. Under Step 1, activate the switch to enable taking payments on the booking page.
  2. Under Step 2, you can choose to require full payment upfront by selecting the option “Collect Full Payment.”

You can enable taking payments from your booking page by navigating to Settings, Payments, Booking Page.

Why taking payments online is so money

Customers make 55% of their purchase decisions within 1 hour of the initial Google search on a mobile device. Setmore lets you to capitalize on customers’ desire to pay for services upfront and there’s numerous benefits to activating this feature:

  • Customers are more committed to showing up for a service they’ve already paid for.
  • You can require payment at the time of booking to discourage frivolous bookings.
  • You get paid faster and it’s more convenient for customers too.
  • It allows you to focus on quality of service during the appointment.

    How can you have such a great app and a very very poor invoice system and not syncing to e.g. Xero
    Not syncing to xero I can live with but that puts you behind your competitors
    Not having a quality invoice set up now that’s well just BAD
    You should have your best people onto this now then your app would be better than Timely and others BUT you must make available the ability to send an invoice to clients so they can pay by EFT example: real estate agent wants property management job done the property manager will NEED an invoice because they will pat by EFT they’ll need an invoice to send a copy to land lord

    Get onto this now and you’ll take Australia by storm
    Don’t bother and thousands of service providers like me well say! sorry can’t use your app

  • how and you schedule a reoccurring appointment on the mobile app. On the mobile app if the appointment is reoccurring it say “can not be edited, why?

    Can you tell me why when I to to my Facebook page and click on booking it takes me to a page showing the link but doesn’t actually allow me to book.

  • I am seeking payment options for clients such as major credit card…visa, MasterCard etc. Is this option will be available soon in Setmore.

    • Hello, Setmore allows processing of major credit cards through the PayPal or Stripe integration. Both will take Visa and Mastercard. We’re looking at expanding our payments options in the near future, so if there’s any updates I’ll post them here.

  • Can you help me remove a staff member who set this up then resigned 2weeks later?

    All client response & email notification needs to be redirected to me exclusively as the owner.

    Can I be contacted urgently to set this up please?

  • I really want the class and payment options on my phone too!! What happens if I client prepays and then cancels does there money immediately bounce back? Or can you add a cancellation policy??

  • I also am interested in class bookings through the mobile app. I use phone exclusively and don’t want to open a computer for any reason. So for me all functions need to be available from mobile app. Love this app so far. Amazing!

  • Could you please inform me how i can see at the mobile app the whole calendar per day and per employee with the free hours and the appointments. The only thing i can see is per day the booking buttons and the appointments.

    • Hi Aki, currently the mobile app displays appointments in a vertical format, top-down in days of the week. You can tap “All Schedules” at the top-center of the window to choose between staff members, and that will narrow down the displayed appointments by staff member only. We do not currently support a whole calendar view in mobile, but updates to the mobile app UI will be happening sometime later this year. I hope that helps!
